Badger of Brock Crossing
'The badger grunts on his woodland track, with shaggy hide and sharp nose scrowed with black. He shuffles at an awkward pace and sighs - he’s not sure whether he should run or hide.'
Having grown up with badger sets in the bank at the bottom of my garden, the little bridge across our stream was fondly named "Brock Crossing" - we often saw badgers trundling along it like grumpy old men, ever tentative not to fall in.
